When a drunk no-hoper turns up dead in a bath full of ice and covered with occult symbols, the police chief is quick to blame the out-of-town travelers. But this case is far from open and shut.

Detective Kate Sanders was banished from the city to a small country town in order to 'improve her attitude'. Since then her biggest case has been a carton of missing milk. Now a murder has landed on her desk and she finally has a chance to prove that she belongs in the city.
