Lady Arietta Greenville has long been infatuated with Griffin Barlowe, the Earl of Uxbridge. He is frequent visitor, and particular friends with her father, the Marquess of Hillhouse. The problem is that he doesn't appear to know that she even exists, although he is perfectly polite whenever he's in her presence. It isn't until she visits a new seamstress and starts to wear bolder gowns, that the earl starts to give her more notice, but not in the way she might hope.

Griffin has always felt uneasy in Lady Arietta's presence, but he never really knew why. To combat his unease, he takes it upon himself to find her a husband, not knowing that beneath her shell beats the heart of a confident woman.
