Light's out! Snakes out!
A 2,500-year old Greek goddess comes to Woodward, Michigan and soon a man is murdered in a "lights out" plastic bag factory. Detective Lieutenant Sparrow investigates and uncovers a harrowing case nothing like he's seen since his days in Detroit.
There's no getting around the gravity of the murder and Sparrow finds the case baffling. Explaining the tortuous killing based on the general principle that the victim and murderer knew each other isn't going to cut it.
As quickly as Proffitt's Plastics started up its modern plastic bag plant things started going deadly wrong. Never loved by the community during its construction, plainly efforts began at the outset to resist it.
As if the barbaric murder of Lewis Adam, one of Austin Proffitt's own workers, wasn't enough, the owner and plant begin to suffer personal and criminal public attacks. Undoubtedly someone has a grudge against one or the other.
