Ellie has known from a young age that she wanted to be a nurse. Her upscale parents think that is beneath their social status. There is a rift in the family when she finishes high school and insists on going to nursing school. They don't believe she'll finish but she does and goes to work in the ER in Chicago's south side of town. Her father says he disowns her but she has to be who she is. She moves a few blocks from the hospital where she meets a handsome Hispanic man who owns a garage next to the apartment building. She knows her fathe will disapprove and Tony has problems of his own with his sister and her daughter. Will all this disapproval separate the possible couple? Or will they defy their families to find love?
