The practice of everyday citizens submitting "letters to the editor" to their local newspaper was the inspiration that led Eric L. Nachamie to write Man in the Middle: A Collection of Essays by a Red, White and Blue American. "My work is a homage to this fundamental manner in which citizens express themselves in our free, democratic society."

This work includes 50 essays on a range of topics relevant to our current society, including race relations, cancel culture, Climate Change, public safety, COVID-19, religion, the January 6th Insurrection and the role of the United States in the world, etc.

Eric shares his politically moderate views and offers policy ideas in the pursuit of addressing some major societal issues. At the least, Eric hopes his essays contribute to a healthy discussion and debate on some contentious issues.

Finally, an underlying but critical theme of the work consists of a call to Americans to reject our increasingly political divisiveness and commit to a new environment of civility, cooperation and putting country ahead of political party.
