Arthur Lyon Bowley worked out a bilateral monopoly theory to fit his intuition that two bilateral monopolists obtain more profit than a single monopolist or monopsonist. This book reveals that he derived his theory by manipulating two maximization techniques. A consistent technique then disproves his theory, while a Robinson model with the same technique overturns it. Finally, this book shows what bilateral monopoly should mean.
