The Archangel Michael is missing. His brother, Gabriel enlists The Bad Angel (BA) to find him. If BA completes his mission he'd be allowed back into Paradise and no longer have to guard Purgatory. Michael's blood is being used to make a powerful new drug, T.A.A.B, which has been released upon humanity by a mysterious being known only as the Peddler, who's using vampires and rogue demons to do his bidding. This forces Jericho Caine, the vampire slayer, Father Tom Padilla, the demon hunter, and a wizard, Alexander Merryweather, The Grand Librarian to join the fray.

The demon lord, Hangoctuforre is also interested in the drug, so he sends his pupil Damien Red, a sorcerer, and a fallen angel to stop the peddler as well. They try to find the mystical Book of the Dead for its power as well. Also, BA's past threatens to endanger his redemption. Now, he must decide if he and his ally's efforts are enough to stop the Peddler, or if he has to call upon a frenemy for help, which is the half demon known as The Hangman.
