Jack Kerouac, the iconic figure of the Beat Generation, was born on March 12, 1922, in Lowell, Massachusetts, as Jean-Louis Lebris de Kérouac. The son of French-Canadian immigrants, Leo-Alcide Kéroack and Gabrielle-Ange Lévesque, young Jack grew up in a working-class environment that would later shape his unique perspective on life.
