This biography was a challenge. To write the life of the Prophet of Islam, peace and blessings of Allah upon him, based solely on the Qur'an and the two collections considered authentic by Muslims: the Sahīh Al-Būkhāri and the Sahīh Muslim. We believe that, despite the difficulty of the task, we have, by the grace of our Lord, succeeded in this challenge. The main lines of Muhammad's life have been traced ﷺ. Nothing is missing in the life of this extraordinary man: his birth, his childhood, his marriages, his preaching, his persecutions, his emigration, his expeditions and finally his death.
The title of this book, Life of Muhammad, was not chosen at random. It echoes the title chosen by a large number of Western authors for their biography of the prophet of Islam: Life of Muhammad. The choice of Muhammad himself is not trivial. According to the linguist Michel Maṣon, the phonetic alterations suffered by the name Muhammad attest to the pejorative imaginary that surrounded the prophet of Islam in the medieval West[1] . The problem is that the Middle Ages are far behind us, but the West, especially the French-speaking West, continues to misrepresent the name of the Prophet ﷺ.
