Come along with Sophie; she's going on an adventure to find her forever home!
Sometimes life is scary, and it doesn't work out exactly like we think it will. But Sophie meets a friend who helps her see things differently . . .
The Tales of Sophie Shenanigans: Sophie Takes a Trip normalizes anxiety and educates young readers that there are ways to feel better when feeling scared. It also helps readers understand how anxiety can make us feel, emotionally and physically. The target audience is children ages 4–8 who suffer from symptoms of anxiety, as well as children who are embarking on a new experience; for instance: moving, starting/changing schools. This book is already the recipient of Creative Child's Magazine Awards Program, 2024 Book of the Year Award (Kids Story Books on Handling Anxiety category) as well as The Golden Wizard Book Prize, 2024. It is loosely based on cognitive behavioral therapy, using the model in a child-friendly way.

The unique blend of an engaging narrative with practical life lessons makes Sophie Takes a Trip a standout in children's literature." Literary Titian, August, 2024.
"The Tales of Sophie Shenanigans: Sophie Takes a Trip" takes an endearing character, Sophie, and adds a layer of depth to her in her anxiety. Crafting an educational tale, author Jill Macdonald informs readers about anxiety and some ways to handle it. Throughout, illustrator Aniella Ragaza's art complements Macdonald's goals in a lovely way. On top of being a story that teaches about anxiety, "The Tales of Sophie Shenanigans: Sophie Takes a Trip" creates a compelling character in Sophie. While she has clearly gotten into scrapes before, she manages to get out of them or even triumph. Sophie's expression of emotions makes her immensely endearing, and she is sure to tug on the heartstrings of any dog lover." Reader Views Kids, October, 2024.
