Psalm 119:105 according to The Living Bible Translation says "Your words are a flashlight to light the path ahead of me and keep me from stumbling."
Without the light provided by the Word, life would become a game of trial and error with stumbling as its inevitable outcome. The Word of God is what provides the compass for a successful navigation in this earthly pilgrimage.
Also, just as aquatic organisms depend on water bodies for their survival and existence, the Christian life has to be lived in accordance with the Word of God if it must thrive.
