Presented here in a beautiful, illustrated edition, this collection of poems by the author of Treasure Island is one of the most influential works of nineteenth-century children’s literature.
First published in 1885, A Child’s Garden of Verses has never ceased to be an essential title of children’s literature. Stevenson's verses capture the feelings of children—of being small, the bliss of going up in a swing, discovering one's shadow, and happiness, sorrow and, dreaming. Robinson's pictures, which originally appeared in the 1896 first illustrated edition, beautifully illuminate Stevenson’s poems.
