The Unbroken Cord is a classic and moving story told by the one "privy" to it. It was about two inseparable twins who were determined to live a fulfilling life. But the gods of Tanagu ever ready and clearly obsessed with infants' consumption, set out to satisfy their unquenchable thirst for infants.

The great forest of Buaku was the setting, and their abode the deceptive mahogany tree. With the "banquet" already in place as it was prepared by Afigo, the priestess, the saliva of the gods were uncontrollably outpouring. But who could save Diata from the gods, definitely not the gods themselves.

As Afigo turned her back on the "banquet" and disappeared, the unexpected happened - a terrible downpour occurred. This was what the gods hated and Afigo dreaded on the day of sacrifice. The consequence was the rejection of Diata, a boy meant to create a "smoldering" satisfaction for the gods.

Days passed, and days into weeks. Months were like today as years looked like yesterday, no news was heard about Diata. But far away in Brovatla, Diata's life was being polished. The kind hand of Mukoro had reached out for this sacrificial "Offal" in the deadly time of the night, right in the "heart" of Buaku forest.

While Diata and Veta remained thousands of miles apart, their late mother, kona, refused to rest in her grave, after being killed by a terrible hemorrhage in the process of giving life to her twins. Interestingly, while Kona engaged Mukoro, Onoyoma was equally being troubled with dreams. All was in effort to bring her twins together.

Unbelievably! This forest and its gods that determined to separate the twins now served as a unifying point for them. What an irony in life.

While you read this moving story, you must also prepare to hold your emotions, as you will not equally avoid laughing.
