Featuring one of the greatest villains in the Shakespearean canon, "Richard the Third" is among the most popular of Shakespeare's history plays.

The story begins with England at peace after a long period of tumult and civil war. The War of the Roses has concluded with the York faction victorious and Edward IV on the throne. But all is not well at court.

Edward's younger brother Richard - brilliant, ruthless and bitter about his physical deformities - aspires to wear the crown and will do anything to achieve it. During the course of the play, we watch as Richard lies, cheats and kills his way to the top, enlisting the audience as a co-conspirator.

A case study in sociopathic ambition, "King Richard the Third" has been adapted several times to the stage and screen and is presented here in its original and unabridged format.
