When Daphne O'Hanlon, an author of children's books, is found shot to death, detectives find many potential murderers. They discovered that O'Hanlon didn't write the books. She published stories created by her daughter, who is resentful that she is getting no credit. As the story develops, we learn that O'Hanlon has many enemies. The question is not just who did it, but if it were done by one person, or two, or even by the wind.
