Magne Sæbø has written a critical commentary on the Old Testament Book of Proverbs based on the original text. He has translated the original Hebrew text and interprets it in an easily understandable manner. By putting the Book of Proverbs in its natural setting within Old Oriental Wisdom literature, Magne Sæbø also reveals its context in the Old Testament. Using the final version of the text, the author reveals the traditional and historical path the text took over time. He also points out the various forms employed and the teachings of the wisemen of the day. A further focus lies on the particular theology found in the individual proverbs.
