Approximately 40 monks make up the community at Glenstal Abbey and Br Anselm Hurt has for many years been responsible for feeding them. He has built up a large and very varied range of recipes over the years and he includes about 65 of those recipes in this book, each with his own very stylish introductory or explanatory note. The recipes are arranged under the headings: soups, fish, main courses, curries, pasta, eggs, potatoes, vegetables, desserts and a final section of miscellaneous recipes. Some recipes are for small numbers, and others for much larger groups. They are perfect for family meals as well as for entertaining friends. They are all simple and easy to follow with ingredients that are widely available.Illustrated with black and white line drawings, the style throughout is quirky, informative with not a little humour. The foreword is by the actor John Hurt, Br Anselm's brother.Other books from Glenstal Abbey:Glenstal Book of Prayer; Glenstal Book of Icons; Glenstal Daily Prayer; Glenstal Book of Readings
