The childhood name of Mahatma Buddha was Siddhartha. He was the price of Kapilavastu and was the son of King Shuddhodhan Maya Devi.
At the time of his birth, his mother was at Lumbini and was very ill. She was brought to Kapilavastu but couldn't live for long. She passed away on seventh day after giving birth to Siddhartha. She gave his responsibility to his sister Prajapati.
The king wanted the court's astrologer to name his son and was called to the palace. He told the king that the child will become either a great king or a hermit. This worried the king a lot. He gathered all the comforts in the palace top keep his son happy. But the child was never really attached to any worldly pleasures.
