The Weight of Absence: Stories of Loss and Other Things is a collection of six stories of differing genres, with some similar themes. The genres include psychological horror, fantasy, contemporary fiction, science fiction and survival.

"Promise" is the survival story of Reed, an explorer who is determined to return to his wife by trekking across an unforgiving icy mountain pass. This story shows his resilient will to survive against the elements on his way home.

"Scent of the Past" tells the psychological story of Sam, a retired thief who snuck away from his family to do one last job, robbing the Hutton's Mansion. Sam is lured into this legendary mansion that many have tried and failed to escape from.

In "The Seventh Time", Keane is a soldier trapped in a desperate situation where he encounters an otherworldly being that can't wait for him to die.

"Reflection of an Astral Sea" is a fantasy story featuring Petra Sohal, a captain trying to stop the Empire's Navy from obtaining an object of legendary power.

"Petals and Pedals" is a contemporary fiction about Roger Oren, a recent widower who wants to get his wife's bicycle back from the repair shop while avoiding the yearly festival and confronting his grief.

In "Runners", Ember is an innocent flame-like AI who is partnered with a shadowy mercenary. When an old friend comes knocking and accusing them of stealing from her, they are later surprised by the truth of the robbery.
