In the near future, romantic partners are no longer freely chosen, a machine does it for them. Two people are responsible for this change: Tommy Newport & Irina Sokolov. They call it The Flower Program.

Galina the only daughter of Irina, is close to entering her training to become a Flower when she meets a mysterious, charismatic boy, Benji. His status as Tommy's son intrigues her and despite the trouble she could get in, they meet privately. When they do, he reveals a few secrets to Galina that are too shocking to believe.

Galina tries to keep their secret but when her mother finds out about the meeting Irina panics and sends Galina to training early. That is where she is assigned a robot Sovpadeniye, the Matcher. The robot identifies as a man and is wholly dedicated to helping Galina. Unfortunately, his interest in her becomes obsessive and that is where things go tragically wrong.
