Miner Garek has fallen down into the Abyss after a tremor tore open the ground beneath his feet. Using his flintlighter, he discovers a forgotten ruby with the power to control elemental fire. But the Abyss holds more than just secret treasure. Creatures of the nightmare, horror variety inhabit it.

As Garek learns how to use the magical ruby to find his way back up out of the Abyss, he recalls how the Eonians have forbidden such dangerous magic for the AlTerrans. In order to escape the dangerous Abyss, he must break their law. Will Garek escape the Abyss with his newfound elemental fire magic? Or will he meet his fate there?
