This essay sheds light on what is the loneliness epidemic, demystifies the various causes of the loneliness epidemic, and reveals the dangers and health effects of people experiencing a loneliness epidemic. Succinctly stated, the loneliness epidemic is an epidemic that is characterized by people experiencing social seclusion from other people. The loneliness epidemic is also an epidemic in which voluntary social interactions are minimized among people. During the course of a loneliness epidemic, people will often demonstrate a proclivity to exude asocial behaviors among other people. The loneliness epidemic is an epidemic that can pervade social settings in contexts in which its occurrence results in people abstaining from socializing with other people in social settings throughout the course of the loneliness epidemic. During the course of a loneliness epidemic, more people are aptly poised to become recalcitrant about profusely confabulating with other people in social settings. Amid the course of a loneliness epidemic, more people are also aptly primed to become apprehensive about confabulating with other people in social settings in contexts in which their infrequently used social skills have waned and they are no longer acclimatized to frequently engaging in in-person social interactions. It is much easier for a person to exude asocial behaviors among other people and limit his social interactions to online social interactions, then it is for a person to exhibit social behaviors and put forth an earnest effort to initiate meaningful conversations with other people whenever he encounters other people. Exhibiting social behaviors among other people and initiating meaningful conversations with other people are courses of action that people are often reticent about following during the course of a loneliness epidemic since attempting to adopt social behaviors and attempting to become loquacious would require them to metaphorically leap outside the parameters of their comfort zone. Most people have an aversion to metaphorically leaping outside the parameters of their comfort zone. People are however inapt to significantly ameliorate their infrequently utilized social skills if they are reluctant to partake in social interactions with other people to provide themselves with opportunities to apply their infrequently utilized social skills in social settings. During the course of a loneliness epidemic, people get accustomed to circumventing in-person social interactions and become content with not putting forth much effort to carry out in-person conversations for a prolonged period in contexts in which they become involved in in-person conversations with other people. During the course of a loneliness epidemic, people often prefer to interact with other people in an asynchronous format, such as by being in correspondence with other people via text messages and emails. During the course of a loneliness epidemic, people also often prefer to abstain from attending social events. During the course of a loneliness epidemic, people also often prefer to not attempt to foster new friendships with other people. During the course of a loneliness epidemic, people also often prefer to distant themselves from other people. During the course of a loneliness epidemic, people also often earmark an inordinate amount of time into engaging in solitary activities.
