Thomas Harvey spotted some Indian warriors seemingly come out of nowhere, and run towards the wagon train. The wagons were parked in front of a cave entrance and were at the top of a significantly steep hill. The Indians had to climb up the hill to get to the wagons and whoever was firing at them. Another shot was fired, but it was wild. The shot did not strike any of the Indians. It was enough, however, to get them to scamper for cover.
Harvey continued to point the telescope down at the direction of the wagons and the Indians. He looked at how the drama unfolded from above, like a fascinated child staring at ants through a magnifying lens.
Another shot rang out, and it was totally wild. The shot did not hit any of the Indians who had now managed to get to some cover.
Harvey shook his head and this made him take pause.
"Whoever is using that rifle sure ain't no crack shot."
