Paul Beck, a retired assassin, is on a mission against the vampires of New York City. Now occupying the heights of power and influence, these undead monsters have left the cemetery in favor of the nightclub and Paul has hunted them there. When Paul fails to kill his target, he is dragged into a conflict between the monsters in the shadows and an ancient order of knights sent by the Catholic Church.

Caught in a bloody, violent quest for vengeance, Paul is targeted by vampires and their under-worldly allies. His only hope is to hunt through the streets and offices of the city, dragging a con-man wizard, two NYPD detectives in over their head, and an innocent streetwalker into his one-man war. But can the former killer keep his target in his sights against seemingly insurmountable odds, or will the creatures in the shadows claim one more victim?
