Is it worse to be paralyzed by disease, than by fear? Kat doesn't think of herself as a polio survivor. No. She's just a survivor.

For the past four years, she's waited for the men who attacked her to get out of prison. She still hears their voices; they haunt her dreams at night. Their desire is to ruin her life-or take it.

But Kat won't go willingly; she'll fight.

Her roommate's elder brother Gabe, has offered her refuge at the family home in Wyoming, and she's accepted.

A survivor? Yes, she's determined and strong. Gabe, however, sees her as headstrong and stubborn, and lets her know it.
