"La princesa y el granuja" is one of the irruptions of Benito Pérez Galdós in fantasy worlds. Leaving aside the humor of other works, although not a fine irony, the author offers us his own version of Pygmalion through Pacorrito Migajas, a poor boy who lives on the street and is madly in love with a doll he sees in the window of a store near the Puerta del Sol in Madrid. From this simple premise, the story introduces us to a fantastic universe populated by toys through a tender look that is not without harshness. In fact, the resolution of the story shows us Galdós at his most disturbing and darkest. If you ever thought that Benito Pérez Galdós was a very serious and old-fashioned author, his tales will surprise you.
