In a dystopian future, superpowers have been outlawed after heroes grew corrupt and tyrannical. Teenage rebel Nova develops telekinetic abilities, but hides them from her family and friends to avoid being thrown in jail. When her best friend is captured for questioning about illegal superpower use, Nova risks using her powers to free him. She learns of the underground resistance movement of outlawed supers fighting the authoritarian government. Nova must decide whether to keep her powers secret or join the resistance.
