"˜ at Jesus, who declared himself Messiah, was of the Essaei sect and, therefore, opposed to the Pharisees and Sadducees in accordance with the tradition of the Essaei, is borne out by mounting evidence which has come to light in recent years with the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls and other historical records. ˜ is fact would invalidate the unfounded claim that Jesus was a layman without any background in scriptural and religious doctrines. ˜ e Gospels themselves reveal that Jesus was not a common layman who had had a vision of God; rather, he was schooled in the Essaei religion and was well-versed in the Torah and the scrolls held sacred by the Essaei community. His proclamation made at the Temple, before the scribes of orthodox Judaism, as recorded in the Logia°the Acts and Sayings of Jesus preserved in the New Testament Canon and Apocrypha°testify to his authority as an Essene prophet; indeed, as the Teacher of Righteousness come as the ÿ nal Messiah predicted to appear in the la˝ er days of Israel.

"Without an understanding of the paradosis (the Oral Teachings of the Essaei held in trust and revealed only to those ordained in the sect, but never publicly), the ministry of Jesus cannot be understood.
