The idea for this book was sparked when the authors realised that, in South Africa, most people are disadvantaged when it comes to entering and succeeding within corporate organisations. There, "Old boy" networks still offer a privileged minority a significant advantage. This led to the authors seeking change for those disadvantaged around the world. This book offers some high-level guidance on how to think about setting goals to be successful despite the disadvantages you may face in the corporate world. Featuring interviews from young minorities who have had very successful corporate careers, the book tries to understand what guided them to their success. The book also presents a way to a systemic structure which can help navigate the complexity young people face when they are considering career options. The book offers a framework for ethical decision making in corporate settings, and some tips on how to survive this journey and to avoid potential burn-out.
