People want to solve problems at their source. The real source is our own mindset. Our mindset affects all of our decision-making. We won't apply an elevated level of effort and concern if we don't love the people we're trying to help. There are problems that can't be effectively addressed without love. If we compromise on love and compassion for the sake of expediency, we'll simply experience other problems later. We need faith in Christ's guidance in order to stay on the path of love. If we don't believe in the divine mandate of love, then we won't persevere in this mindset. The reason is that if love isn't the plan of God then it's the plan of people, and people are fallible. Our faith in the plan itself is as strong as our faith in the author of the plan. If our faith is less than absolute then we will doubt the plan and make our own exceptions.
