Even though Dylan rescued us from a pack of zombies, I wasn't sure that I trusted him. He was hard, dangerous, and seemed happier being on his own. At the same time, I felt drawn to him. He was smoking hot and made me feel safter than I had in months. And even though I didn't really know him, he asked me to stay. But now Bill and Kate want to use me as bait so we can take his supplies and place for ourselves. How do I choose between the people who've kept me alive and the man I've come to want so much?

I didn't trust Hailey's companions further than I could throw them. They were both a couple of little weasels, especially Bill. I'd seen the way he looked at Hailey when he thought that no one was watching. He'd be perfectly happy getting rid of me and Kate so he could have Hailey all to himself. I certainly wasn't going to let that innocent girl go back out there with nothing between her and the zombies except those two. Not while there was one breath left in my body.
This standalone novella is a supplemental story set in the Dead Heat universe. It can be read on its own, although some characters from the main novel do pop up.
