Historically, infectious diseases are among the most common diseases and cause of death in many societies for centuries. They are still one of the essential health challenges in developing countries. During the past century after introducing various antibiotics, a successful control, and gradually declining in the prevalence of these diseases occurs worldwide and lead to changing the leading cause of mortality rate from communicable to non-communicable diseases. But, over the past two decades, the importance of these diseases has been increasing again, due to the progressive increase of antimicrobial resistance and prolonged life expectancy in patients with chronic conditions, especially those with cancer and immunocompromised states. Medical students have a limited time for infectious diseases rotation in their curriculum and may not learn many infectious diseases syndromes during their entire medical course. Also, due to the high volume of infectious diseases subjects in the textbooks, overlap of symptoms and signs of many microorganisms, and changes in some of the contents, such as diagnosis and treatment in the new edition of the book, they may forget some of the materials. Therefore, access to a comprehensive compact book on infectious diseases seems necessary for any medical staff.

This book summarizes relevant and practical content in infectious diseases using some keys to better coding and learning the materials, and has even attempted to provide a portable medical resource with a low volume. The author used his experience from over 15 years of teaching and working in the field of infectious diseases in more than ten hospitals and treating thousands of patients for this book. Also, all of the contents have been provided using a clinical perspective for a wide range of audiences, such as medical students, general practitioners, nurses, and others.
