You can get positive, uplifting trip reviews anywhere. You've seen Japan through the filtered lens of Instagram. You've watched the editorialised talking heads on YouTube. You've read your aunt's posts about how great it was on Facebook. You've seen what the moderators of r/JapanTravel want you to see on Reddit. You've watched Travel Guides Australia on TV. You've streamed Eugene Levy's Reluctant Traveller. All these pretty people trying to sell you pretty things.
