Open Letter to the Black...Reclaiming Our Time is a reflection of where I see the black church in the 21st century. To reclaim means to take back what rightfully belongs to you. We were taken from our motherland and placed in a foreign country that did not resemblance who we were. This statement 'Reclaiming My Time' went viral after Congresswomen Maxine Waters, affectionately known as "Auntie Maxine." Auntie Maxine reminded us that time is a currency and it's not relative to our gender, color or creed." So, it is with this letter I pray it will spark a conversation to help empower the black church to become better. This mantra to reclaim is where I see the church needs to move toward. We have seen how the Black Church has progressed, but it has been slow. This letter is a fluid conversation and a much-needed conversation that we need to have. We are a rich people with a very rich culture, but we have lost some our edge because of what life has presented to us. This is a book of reconciliation and reflection. The critical questions are how do we reconcile what is lost or broken? And how do we reflect what we can't see? I have chosen to present on the following chapters: Goodbye to the days of Old, Wilderness Experience, Resurrection of the Black Church, It's by God's Love, Broken but no Barren, Unspoken Silence Mental Health and the Black Church, Where do we go from here, Reclaiming our Time and Are we ready for the Challenge. Finally, my prayer is facilitating open conversation that will help the Black Church to get in formation and in position for the next shift.
