On route, Corrine hears strange voices calling for help. Corrine and her friends adventure into the mountains. There they discover a fantastic thriving Mountain Colony, albeit with a dark secret. Their King, Sampson, has turned thousands of old-world robots into slaves! Corrine is soon discovered. Everything she's ever loved about herself and felt proud of is torn away. She is reduced to a slave worker, without identity, purpose, or rights.

Guided by the strange cries for help, Corrine discovers the ability to Dream Walk with other robots and more. Corrine learns that her strength doesn't lie with special abilities alone. Her most powerful weapons are the friendships she makes. Dozens of robot friends, Sampson's parents reduced to brains in tubes, Ice Nomads, and even a "giant mechanical spider amusement park ride" join together in a fight for Corrine's freedom. They unitedly raise an army which brings horrible King Samson to his knees.
