It was the darkest night, and the family's car cut through the eerie silence of the highway as they drove home from the holiday gathering. The moon had hidden behind a curtain of thick clouds, cloaking the world in complete darkness except for faint glimmers of light reflected from their headlights. As they continued along their journey, a hulking figure appeared in front of them, an imposing silhouette standing alone in the middle of the deserted road.

As they approached, their headlights illuminated a towering figure standing motionless in the middle of the road. At first, they thought it was an elk, but as they drew closer, dread snaked its way up their spines. The man before them was tall and impossibly thin, with long dark hair hanging like oily tendrils around his pallid face. He wore a sweeping coat that seemed to swallow the light and a wide-brimmed hat that cast his features into shadow. His eyes glinted in the darkness like shards of ice. It was clear - he was waiting for them.
