In Anthony Trollope's short story, 'Aaron Trow', a convict manages to escape from prison on the island of Bermuda. Faced with the daunting task of finding food and money for passage to America, he resorts to desperate measures, roughing up a young woman who lives alone. However, the woman happens to be engaged to the local clergy, who lead a group of men in a hunt for the dangerous fugitive.
