What is our higher duty – to mankind, or to the Earth, upon which our very existence depends? They know! The Kareet: an alien species, in our solar system, watching us for decades, waiting for us to do something, anything, to arrest the current eco-catastrophe, and we didn't even know they were there... until...
Jeff Ridsdale, just an ordinary down-to-earth guy, delivering a yacht (because that's what he does) is caught up in a vicious storm in the Tasman Sea. Thrown by a wave and knocked unconscious, he awakes to find himself on a Kareeti interstellar vessel. Hell, he had never even remotely believed in UFOs and alien abductions!
The Kareet, despairing we'd ever do anything to mitigate the harm we're doing to the planet, have decided to intervene. They implant a device in Ridsdale's cervical spine that allows them to use his eyes and ears and take control of his voice. He is to become their communication channel to our world leaders. But, how could he get in front of presidents and prime ministers?
When the Kareet ask for a leading micro-biologist and Lena Sandmeier steps forward, what can she and Ridsdale do to thwart the alien's deadly intent? How would you feel suddenly confronted with an alien species whose compassion for you is about the same as yours for an ant infestation? Sometimes its more complicated than simply 'us and them'!
