Culture and Anarchy is a series of essays written by Matthew Arnold that was published in 1869.  The essays are notable for their discussion of High Victorian era culture.

Matthew Arnold was a prominent English poet and cultural critic in the 19th century..  Arnold came from a famous family as his father was the headmaster at Rugby School.  Arnold's writing is unique as it is known for instructing and even chastizing readers on social issues.
