Most people are disguised by historical inventions and believe that the Song and Ming dynasties were direct descendants of the Han and Tang dynasties. In their mind, there has been a continuous line of dynasties since Confucius. It is said that the history of China is dynasty politics. This assumes that the entire history since the Zhou dynasty was continuous and that the old dynasty would inevitably be taken place by a new dynasty.
