After the failure of the Guangzhou uprising in 1895, Sun Yat-sen was imperatively wanted by the Qing government. On September 30, 1896, Sun Yat-sen arrived at London. Ten days later, he was captured by secret agents of the Qing government and imprisoned at Chinese legation in London. Thanks to the persistent efforts of his friends, Sun was released on 23 October. Kidnapped in London is a detailed record of this experience. It was written by Sun Yat-sen in English and first published in UK in 1897. It has been translated and published in Russian, Japanese and Chinese.
