What Is the RIV?
The Renner Interpretive Version of the New Testament is an expanded, interpretive version based on Rick Renner's exposition of the original language of the New Testament — Koine Greek.
The RIV is not a word-for-word translation — it's a conceptual interpretation that draws upon concepts in the Greek language and expresses them in a way that supplies a broader comprehension of Scripture.
By extracting imagery presented in the Greek language and conveying it to readers using contemporary speech, Rick brings these words to life, drawing lovers of the Bible into a deeper study of God's message to His people for all time.
About This Installment
Peter, also called Simon, Simon Peter, and Cephas, was an unrefined, unpolished fisherman when Jesus called him as one of His 12 disciples and apostles of the Christian faith that would spread far and wide after Christ's crucifixion and resurrection. Peter was a bold witness and a man who'd experienced great grace throughout his lifetime. His epistles are powerful messages with great relevance for us today!
