FAQs

Sora is available for students to use at no cost, both inside and outside the classroom.

For schools or districts that purchase a Sora subscription or build a customized library, hundreds of complimentary titles will be added to their digital collection.*

Subscription pricing varies based on the selected packages and full-time enrollment size. Subscriptions are currently available only in the US and Canada. Check out our cost-effective EbooksNow options for Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

By choosing to build a customized digital library, schools gain access to millions of premium titles for purchase through OverDrive's Marketplace, allowing them to curate a collection that fits within their budget. To get started with a customized collection, contact us to speak with a Sora representative.

*Minimum purchase necessary to access complimentary titles and available to schools in US and Canada only.

Account access to Sora is typically managed by your school's tech services department. When signing up for Sora, we'll need to connect with your IT team to configure your accounts and ensure a smooth onboarding process.

After launching your Sora library, students can access your school's content by entering your unique school setup code during sign-in, and/or by logging in using your school's preferred single sign-on (SSO) or OAuth methods (such as Google, ClassLink, etc.)

If a student is having trouble accessing Sora, we recommend reaching out to your school librarian or a member of the tech services team.

Students can access Sora on desktop, tablets or mobile devices by downloading the app from

Download on the Apple App Store
Get it on Google Play

Students can also download titles for off-line access.

Unfortunately, the Sora reading platform and the digital books offered are not available for individual homeschools or personal purchase, as Sora is exclusively available to public and private K-12 institutions.

For homeschools, we recommend using our sister app, Libby, the library reading app.

Colleges and universities can also use Libby to create a customized digital collection for their students and staff.
