Won't Get Fooled Again
In the last decade, incompetent leadership has done more to change the face of our world than perhaps in any other time in history. Recent events like Hurricane Katrina and the war in Iraq have proven that blind faith in our rulers is more than foolish - it can be downright dangerous. The world has grown more complicated and more volatile, and making intelligent decisions about the people in charge has never been more crucial. What causes us to follow bad leaders and how can we stop it? The answer is simple: If we want better leaders, we need to become better informed and more demanding followers. Using extensive research and solid evidence, author Joseph Boyett reveals:
- Why we need leaders in the first place?
- How to tell if a leader is authentic?
- The top four red flags that your leader's vision is flawed.
- Why "wishy-washy" candidates and "flip floppers" can make the best leaders.
Timely and revelatory, this is the one book that will change the way we vote, the way we see the world, and who we trust.

Terrifying Tales |
Eat the Dark
It is the last night before Tanglewood Memorial closes for good, and MRI technician Mike Hughes arrives for his final shift at the hospital. Between the bare-bones staff and the fact that all the patients have already been moved to the new facility, Mike is prepared for a quiet night.
All that changes when a special patient arrives, complete with a five-man police escort: the infamous serial killer Frank Snow has been brought in for a brain MRI. As if that's not enough, Mike's wife Sarah decides to drop in unexpectedly, along with their young son, Eli. Then Snow unexpectedly breaks free, cuts the power, and locks the doors. Now he's loose in the old, dark hospital, hunting its last occupants one by one, and escape seems to be the furthest thing from his mind.

Anathem
Since childhood, Raz has lived behind the walls of a 3,400-year-old monastery, a sanctuary for scientists, philosophers, and mathematicians. There, he and his cohorts are sealed off from the illiterate, irrational, unpredictable "saecular" world, an endless landscape of casinos and megastores that is plagued by recurring cycles of booms and busts, dark ages and renaissances, world wars and climate change. Until the day that a higher power, driven by fear, decides it is only these cloistered scholars who have the abilities to avert an impending catastrophe. And, one by one, Raz and his friends, mentors, and teachers are summoned forth without warning into the unknown.

Hot Mahogany
In Stuart Woods's engaging new thriller, Stone Barrington is lured from Elaine's to New England, and the genteel but cutthroat world of priceless antiques, historic homes, and lavish country estates. In a place dominated by bluebloods and their inherited wealth, along with the nouveau riche, there are surprisingly few rules of engagement, and Stone finds himself navigating a dangerous course, one where even the most expensive and sought-after status symbols are sometimes stolen and sometimes clever fakes, though no less priceless. With its swift action, bold characters, and wit as dry as the best martini, Hot Mahogany is another must-read from the pen of a master entertainer.

Reagan
While his presidency has been rigorously examined, Ronald Reagan's early life as an actor and union leader has remained largely unexplored. In this highly entertaining and revealing new biography, acclaimed author and film historian Marc Eliot uncovers Reagan's unlikely and often frustrating career in motion pictures as well as his unpredictable rise to the top of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). Set against the glamorous and often combative background of Hollywood's celebrated Golden Age, Eliot's biography provides an exceptionally nuanced portrait of the man and reveals the startling origins of the legend.
Covering more than thirty years of Reagan's film and television work, Eliot sheds new light on Reagan's bachelor life, his two marriages, and his two runs as the president of SAG. It also examines his personal relationship with superagent Lew Wasserman, the crucial player who helped develop Reagan's movie-star persona, which would prove essential to his eventually becoming the president of the United States.

A Lion Among Men
While civil war looms in Oz, a tetchy oracle named Yackle prepares for death. Before her final hour, an enigmatic figure known as Brrr - the Cowardly Lion - arrives searching for information about Elphaba Thropp, the Wicked Witch of the West. As payment, Yackle, who hovered on the sidelines of Elphaba's life, demands some answers of her own.
Brrr surrenders his story to the ailing maunt: Abandoned as a cub, his earliest memories are gluey hazes, and his path from infancy in the Great Gillikin Forest is no Yellow Brick Road. Seeking to redress an early mistake, he trudges through a swamp of ghosts, becomes implicated in a massacre of trolls, and falls in love with a forbidding Cat princess. In the wake of laws that oppress talking Animals, he avoids a jail sentence by agreeing to serve as a lackey to the war-mongering Emperor of Oz.
A Lion Among Men chronicles a battle of wits hastened by the Emerald City's approaching armies. What does the Lion know of the whereabouts of the Witch's boy, Liir? Can those tarnished by infamy escape their sobriquets - cowardly, wicked, brainless, criminally earnest - to claim their own histories, to live honorably within their own skins before they're skinned alive?

The Progressive Party
The Progressive Party was founded in 1912 by former President Theodore Roosevelt and reform-minded Republicans. The presidential election of 1912 pitted Progressive Party candidate Roosevelt against Republican President William Howard Taft, Democratic Governor Woodrow Wilson, and Socialist Eugene Debs. Although the Progressive Party lost the election, it fared better than any other third party ever has. Other political parties and presidential administrations have since adopted reforms that started out as part of the Progressive Party platform.
