Application Developer - Apple Mac OS X/iPhone OS  

The Developer’s responsibilities include developing and supporting Apple Cocoa and Cocoa Touch applications. Development responsabilities will require creating engaging multimedia Mac and iPhone programs that use web-connected technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating and participating in the implementation, testing, and supportof Mac and iPhone-based applications using Objective-C, Cocoa/Cocoa Touch, XCode 3, and the iPhone SDK.
  • Programming, developing, and producing connected iPhone applications that communicate through web services to a host data source
  • Maintenance of the code-base using Subversion source control database. Support to product management and business development teams for various projects
  • Explicit and thorough documentation of all source code and resources, both in project documentation and in-code comments
  • Assist in testing all applications against software and hardware versions. Provide timely turnaround and documentation of bug fixes during test cycle.

Desired Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Apple OS X 10.5, XCode 3.1, and Subversion.
  • Knowledge of Objective-C 2, Cocoa/Cocoa Touch Framework, SQLite3, XML
  • Experience consuming XML-based web services
  • Knowledge of REST, SOAP and other web service technologies
  • Experience developing in a mobile platform environment, such as optimization techniques and resource conservation.

Business Development Associate - Sales 

The Business Development Associate will be responsible for developing accounts and sales opportunities for OverDrive digital media services. OverDrive provides hosted application services for digital media security and protection to publishing, educational institutions, online retailers and government agencies for a variety of internal and external content delivery applications. This position involves developing relationships with senior level business and technical executives and building cost benefit analyses.

OverDrive solutions and service sales require a candidate to understand customers' business and technology environments and demonstrate to customers how OverDrive's ASP hosted service for content protection and delivery and proven deployment solutions will allow improved business processes in a cost effective manner. Travel is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate software license and professional services revenue and high customer satisfaction.
  • Respond to RFI/RFPs, create proposals, develop ROI and TCO analysis.
  • Effectively communicate product requirements from the field back into engineering.
  • Along with Sales Engineers and Program Managers, develop customer centric solutions based on the existing environment and specific needs of the customer.
  • Approximately 30% travel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Experience:

  • BA or BS.
  • A track record of success selling technology solutions to our target markets.
  • Proven quota attainment and over-achievement in a solution selling environment.
  • Proven background in developing relationships with key decision makers and influencers including closing large software deals with recurring revenues and licenses.

Metadata Specialist 

The Metadata Specialist engages with digital media suppliers and coordinates the delivery and upload of supplier metadata and content files (eBook, audiobook, music, video, and software) to the OverDrive database. The main day-to-day responsibility of the Metadata Specialist is to prepare data received from suppliers for import into the OverDrive system. The Metadata Specialist also addresses publisher questions, creates and maintains publisher documentation, and coordinates the timely and recurring upload of content to the OverDrive system.

Responsibilities:

  • Metadata prep - working with data to fit OverDrive’s standards for batch upload. This includes compilation, normalization, and/or "clean-up" of supplier metadata.
  • Quality assurance of publisher-supplied metadata.
  • Supplier support - working with suppliers to address questions and/or issues with ingestion, metadata, or format files.
  • Answer and resolve publisher requests utilizing a support ticket management system.
  • Respond to problems that come to technical support utilizing a support ticket management system.
  • Communicate publisher concerns to technical staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Experience:

  • 1-3 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree (in Library Science or related field).
  • Previous customer service and/or project management experience is preferred.

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills -- being able to convey complex information concisely and clearly -- are essential.
  • Non-English language skills are a plus.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office suite); expert user of Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of web-browsing and Internet use.

Technical Project Manager 

OverDrive Inc, a digital media distribution company, seeks a Technical Project Manager to work with our Product Development and Software Engineering teams to ensure software development projects meet the requirements of customers, and are delivered on time and on budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with product managers to develop functional specifications for software engineering projects.
  • Work with the software engineering staff to turn functional specifications into technical requirements documents.
  • Work with Quality Assurance teams to develop testing and validation plans.
  • Work with all of the above to develop timelines, schedule resources, and manage the complete software development lifecycle.
  • Communicate and coordinate across department boundaries during the entire project life cycle.
  • Resolve project issues while managing expectation and risk.
  • Share information with appropriate internal/external constituents.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in CS, MIS, or a related degree.
  • Three to five years of experience managing technical projects.
  • Knowledge of software engineering concepts applied for the .NET platform.
  • Familiarity with object oriented design and programming concepts.
  • Understanding of relational databases.
